An Interview with young Madison. Her real name is not mention for her privacy.

Your favourite food: sushi

1.What was your musical experience like growing up?

  • Started with a recorder in grade four. It was pretty easy.

  • I participated in band last year playing the flute and ukulele.

  • I’m also learning to play the violin.

2. What was your favourite music-making memory?

My favourite music-making memory was playing the ukulele and singing with friends at my school’s talent show in grade 4 and 5.

3. What was your favourite instrument and why? Do you play other instruments? What instrument would you like to learn next?

My favourite instrument is the flute because it’s a classical instrument. I like the sound it makes. I also really like the ukulele. I’d like to learn how to play the electric guitar. I’d like to learn how to play songs from the musical, “Rock of Ages.” My favourite is “Jukebox Hero.”

4. What are your interests?

I like watching movies, volleyball, lacrosse, and I like to sing.

5. What kind of music-making are you involved in?

  • I like playing Jason Mraz and Ed Sheeran songs

  • I play in the concert band and perform at talent shows/drama productions

  • I take lessons on violin and ukulele

6. Why is music-making important to you?

  • It’s important because I’d like to improve my music playing and continue it as a job when I’m older.

  • I also enjoy playing

Don’t be scared to try an instrument, it’s never too late to try it. If you’re interested in playing an instrument just go for it. You can learn that it’s a talent of yours if you practice and keep to it.
